Second Grade ART

In second grade students use themselves and their community for artistic inspiration. Below are some examples of second grade art.

Crazy line designs
Second grade students looked at the work of Gustav Klimt for inspiration to their own crazy hair line design.

Students used real leaves to create a light and dark value mono-print!

 During the turning of the seasons, what better time to discuss the life of a deciduous tree and the beauty that is all around us in nature. Students are working on a radial print of a tree that shows the four seasons!

Cubist Animals
After reading when Pigasso met Mootisse, students created their own " porks of art" by drawing an animal from different view points. 

Textural clay ornaments
Students created clay slabs and added different textures to their slabs. They then used slip and score to attach two pieces of clay together. After the clay was fired, we painted and sealed the clay

Students are currently working on creating 3D sculptures out of paper. We will be learning accordion fold, curling and fringing techniques.

Japanese cherry blossoms
Students created blown friendship cherry blossoms. We then discussed and created tints to paint the blossoms. Using 2 different materials gave students the ability to compare and contrast the different types of paint.
